Ideas for political structure and government spending:
Political System for the UK
Petition for Proportional Representation Would it be better to elect a Prime Minister and ask the other party leaders to form an advisory team around them? Could we then implement crowd-sourced votes on the best policy suggestions from all the parties? Would it then be appropriate to vote for the local MP according to their personality, beliefs and ability to advocate for the local community. It could mean the best of both worlds - a strong and publicly supported leader with associated proportional representation! We would avoid having static safe seats and enable new faces to join Parliament, preventing tactical voting and increasing the chance of true choice. Blog on Democracy and the Right to Freedom Provision for Disabled Children
DIY SOS highlights this issue continually in their Big Build projects, where families are struggling to provide for the needs of their disabled child through lack of space, support or equipment. The renovations on the programme astound me with the detail and difference simple changes can make. There are 800,000 disabled children in the UK alone, who cost families up to £1,000 per month more to support. A massive issue and one I am wrestling with... Children and Families Ready to Learn
Perceived Value of Learning For many families, higher education does not seem achievable or valuable. To inspire the early years children, could we assess their personality and talents to bring a greater level of motivation into the classroom? Can schools collaborate more with organisations looking to be creative and engage with their future purchasers now? For some their may be a negative perception of what's possible and the consultation of children could change this cycle to encourage greater ambition and hope for the future. Inspired by this video on education and self esteem. Status: Plan to consult Local Authorities on using school budget to develop with industry contacts. |
Access to Culture and Sport
Supporting Every Talent For Special Needs children and those with talent for Art, Creativity and Sports, there is variable provision across the country. However the public value placed on these things is growing. We want to protect our ability to compete as a country and offer the best to our children in terms of opportunities to all. How do we invest in these skills to sustain our future potential? How do we offer opportunity to all children whatever the family's income? Status: Currently ideating! |
